The Marauders.

Area of Operation: Illinois (Center in Chicago) Other parts of the world and occasionally off world.

For those of you think otherwise. Our job is the most important job in the world. False humility and the need to appear humble makes us say otherwise in public. But The Police, Firefighters, Military and even the president’s job is a cake walk compared to what we do. Why do you ask?

Because if we fail, everyone dies, or is enslaved , or is turned into goats by a despotic twelve year old girl from another dimension. We have a zero wiggle room in our job one those kind of days and my respect from the Marauders comes from the fact they do their job while being wanted by the law, several drug cartels and more.

The Marauder’s started not long after the Nemesis event. Chicago was a hell hole, Various street gangs (See New Blood, Power dogs and Los Mortus ) were dividing the city up and waging super powered war in the streets. There was no police, no national guard, just destruction until three remarkable young men, Warren, Eric and Nick (Brothers) rose up and started fighting back as brutally as the criminals.

While the History books will say it was a New Mayor and the National Guard that brought Chicago back, the truth it was three guys that broke the hold of the Post-Human warlords and allowed the America to retake the City and rebuild the infrastructure of the North Central .

The Marauders would go on to grow in membership and because they refused to back the corrupt Chicago mayor and his administration was made into criminals. Still despite that they fought on helping battle the Va-Tari, Help us liberate both Lousiana and New York city and to this day still manage to make a difference in their own brutal way.

Shango (Warren Hampton)
Origin: Metahuman
Warren like his family was from the wrong side of the tracks. Raised by a single Father and the eldest son he was pushed to be not only a good student, but an athlete and a model citizen. His hard work made him the most popular kid in school.

After The Nemesis Event his Neighborhood went to hell. Metahuman’s males were pressed into gangs, Mundanes were made into near slaves and those that fought against the new system were killed or forced to fight gladiatorial games put on between the warring gangs. It was Warren who after rescuing his brother Eric from the Gladiatorial games decided to fight back and with his two brothers formed the first iteration of the Marauders.

Shango not only controls the weather, but controls an unruly band of misfits not with an iron fist but by being respected by each member. While powerful in his own right, Shango’s greatest ability is his ability to know how to make a team work and how to balance brutal tactics with foes to communication and outreach to the local community.

Hunter (Eric Hampton)

Hunter to the public is the poster child of vigilante “Bad Boys”. Infact he’s o good at being the violent loaner type he even had me fool until I had a chance to just sit and talk to him after one of Ghost’s infamous bad-boy Poker games (No I’m not invited but It’s held in our base) . What I found was an intelligent young man who despite being a former gang-banger and having a reputation for punching first and asking questions later.

At age 12 he was placed in the Gladiatorial games ran by the Chicago gangs, His powers made him a survivor and in time he games champions. And I’ll say this again.. he was twelve. That kind of thing will warp you a bit and make you hate those who take advantage of the weak. Although truthfully talking to him over hotwings you would never guess any of that past, seeing him in action however is a different thing.

Hunter was designed for combat, He can heal quickly, regrow limbs and organs, have heightened senses, strength and speed and can build a vibration wave in his hands that allow them to slice through anything. Yeah, he’s like that mutant comic book character with claws only better, stronger and faster.

Meltdown (Nick Hampton)

I’m going to get a bit scientific here, sorry. One of the reasons Nuclear Weapons are no longer viable (aside from my own tinkering) is the fact metahumans on average can take a lot more radiation than Mundanes. Nuke a city and over 70% of us that survive the blast can pretty much ignore the radiation or at least survive long enough for one of us to fix it. Ours was a race designed to survive and adapt in every environment. Our default regenerative system, adaptive cell walls and more just makes us hard to kill even when our powers at the most basic level.

So the fact that Meltdown produces radiation that could kill a human after a few weeks of exposure is something most of us wouldn’t even notice. But its something that shaped his life.

After his Chrysalis Nick Discovered the hard way he was deadly after non-Metahumans around him started becoming sick. Thankfully their Father was ex-Military and knew the symptoms and was able to isolate his son before anyone died. But that Isolation turned a shy socially awkward kid into an even more shy and socially awkward kid. Luckily the Marauders war with other Metahumans gave him a chance to unleash himself and spend time with those he wouldn’t hurt.

Eventually I would build his first containment suit and overtime he would become a dynamic hero and leave the shy kid behind. By While becoming outgoing he still has to remain guarded. You see, He could if he wanted too go off like a 1 Megaton bomb.. literally. Boom, millions dead. Its something he knows and has learned to live with which shows considerable will but considerable self control.

Mind-Star ( Nadia Vainshtein)
Origin: Metahuman
After the Nemesis Event America was a bad place, in fact in many ways like the old west. But Americans wanted things to get better, they wanted America to come back and it did despite the odds. Russia was different. When the Government fell the criminals took over, it was like Chicago but on a country wide scale and in this case the Russian Mafia ran the show.

They let millions starve, enslave more and pretty much turned a former pseudo democracy into a corrupt empire ran by the worst kind of people. Eventually the Post-Human mobsters and the Human ones went to war and the Humans lost. The Metahumans in order to invoke loyalty needed readers, psychics who could read minds and find traitors and enemies. Nadia as a kid was such a reader. Not because she wanted to, but because being one meant her family could live in less that squalid conditions.

Eventually said Mobsters and Chicago gangs had a meeting, It was Russian arms trading for American Readers. The Marauders put a stop to it. And Nadia (Brought to America to act as a Reader for here bosses) was finally freed. Using her powers to make a surviving Mobster think she had died (to protect her family) she joined the Marauders as their Psychic and as their infiltration specialist.

Iron Chain (Ferock aka Hank Steel)

Our Galaxy is a big place and thanks to our Atlantian Forefather’s full of lots of Alien civilizations. In fact over fifty thousand years ago the a clans of Atlantians and a few members of various other clans created a ship half the size of our moon and headed out tio explore our Galaxy. This tribe would over time lose track with Earth, never find out Atlantis was destroyed and become a race of cosmic wanderers and interlopers feared by many an alien race.

Iron Chain (along with Olympian, Wonderbolt and a few others) are decedents from that race. Infact they were sent to earth after the Nemesis Event broadcasted a beacon to all surviving Atlantians across the omniverse. The message “Come home, let’s rebuild”. Iron Chain, An Engineer by trade and breeding landed on Earth and was captured by the Project Stormwall who was and is one of those secret government agencies that knew Aliens existed.

The Marauders would by accident discover the Aliens and free them and three of said Aliens would join them and use their knowledge to help upgrade the team in a variety of ways. . Ion Chain comes across as a big and kinda slow, but he’s not, he’s just never in a rush . In fact he’s extremely smart and is responsible for a lot of the Marauder’s equipment such as their Attack Helicopter/Transport the Gauntlet, Meltdown’s current containment suit, their communication buds and more.

But being a great engineer isn’t what makes Ironchain valuable in combat, it’s the fact Iron Chain is pretty much one of the strongest and the only known Metalkinetic. He can control metals and even create metal by gathering metallic dust from the air.

Wonderbolt (Thim aka Tim Martinez)
Origin (Metahuman (B’zzerian/Atlantian/alien hybrid)
Ever wonder why most aliens we meet tend to be humanoid? Blame the Atlantians. You see aside from the fact during is recharge voyage Nemesis leaked Atlantian Dna powered by science and magic all over our Galaxy the B’zzerians (Off shoots of Atlantians) went about having sex with every thing they could in space. Atlantian DNA is adaptive in the fact if it can gain an advantage it’ll allow procreation. Thim’s people from what I hear started about 10 thousand years ago as a three limbed, purple people from a heavy G world. On that world they were fast, off it they were super fast and it seems some Atlantian thought a Purple Heavy G-worlder was a good one night stand.

Ten thousand years later Thim’s people are a race of humanoid speedsters and Thim, their fastest. He came to Earth because his reflexes made him a great pilot and was liberated along with the others of their ship by the Marauders.

I must admit, I like Thim, he’s a funny guy who speaks so fast only people like me and other speedsters can really understand him unless he focuses on slowing down. Thim also loves to run, and enjoys just being fast which makes him the second fastest man alive by just a hair. Don’t tell Mach I said this but Wonderbolt given the right circumstances could out run him.

Olympian (Xun’can Duncan Bright)

Powers beyond Mortal men… Check…
Olympian is why I fear the arrival of the B’zzerians.. and they will arrive .
Yes he’s a nice guy, and handsome enough to make any guy jealous and any girl (or so inclined guy) want to be with him. And he has a voice that sounds like one would imagine an Angel would (Although if you talk to Mizerial you’ll lean that’s not true). He’s also the Son of one of the B’zzerian leaders (And so are a few of his interplanetary envoy team; See Ironchain, Gills and Wundar) . And he once told me about his father. Who according to his account, that of others and records took fro a Va’tari ship destroyed a world… on his own… a world larger than earth.


While Olympian isn’t that powerful (He is in the top twenty fastest and strongest Metahumans on earth and has a wide array of energy project, detection and manipulation powers)) I believe him and I believe that we are not ready for the arrival off his people… yet.

You see little known fact, Atlantians get more powerful as they get older. Metahumans have been around 12 years. Most of us have life span potential into the hundreds of thousands of years. B’zzerians and Atlantians have been around long enough to reach full potential which I theorize is abound 1500 years old.

The Rebel ( Ezikial “E.Z.) Davis)

Ezekiel Longhorn Davis , I admit I just like saying it for no other reason that it’s the most southern name ever is America. His Father is Half Black Half white, his Mother half Cherokee half Korean. The reason for such an eclectic heritage is he comes from a long line of Savads, Mystic Martial artist who tend to be very clannish and keep their bloodlines in clans.

Ezekial was raised in the clan till he turned seventeen Wanting to see the world he rebelled and joined the military and five years later was a member of SPARTA, a NATO backed wetworks special forces unit. Yes the same Sparta that gave you my team mate Ghost and other heroes and criminals (see Defender, Sidearm and the Stranger). After the Nemesis EventSPARTA was dispanded and many of its members returned to their countries of origins to help rebuild (or rule) . Ezekiel joined the DEA and would run across the Marauder’s on an op.

The Laid back Alabamian would become first an ally then a member and apply his tactical training and his computer skills for the benefit of his new team. The Rebel is also an asset in combat using guns of his own design at when teamed with his Mystical martial arts/gun fu (yes that’s a word) makes him one of the most dangerous men in a group of dangerous men.
